How to Troubleshoot Trane Commercial air conditioner Units
Check electrical panel, if air conditioner unit will not operate at all. Look for breakers that have tripped and any blown fuses. Replace fuses and reset breakers as needed. You may need to flip breaker off and on few times before it clicks into place. Make sure any replacement fuses are same amperage as old ones.
Set Trane's thermostat to few degrees lower than room temperature, if there is insufficient cooling. Turn thermostat off for one to three hours if indoor unit is running but outdoor unit is not. This should reset system. If unit runs all time it could be trying to reach set point that is too extreme. Check to see if thermostat is set too low in summer, or too high in winter. Readjust thermostat accordingly.
Clean air filter if there is little or no air flow. Gently knock air filter on hand to dislodge dirt or debris.You can also use vacuum to clean filter. Make sure to vacuum area around which filter is situated.
Ensure that condenser is receiving outside air that's of normal temperature, and that another unit is not blowing hot air into it. Inspect supply and return ducts for leaks. They could be drawing in warm air from outside.
Verify that there is sufficient freon, or coolant, in unit. Place hand on copper tubes beside condenser. If tubes are warm to touch, unit could be out of freon. Have Trane service technician fill unit with freon.
