How to Troubleshoot Tempstar Air Conditioners
Inspect ventilation grille on one side of Tempstar's compressor outside house. Remove leaves or other material possibly stuck to outside of grille. Remove screws from grill using Phillips screwdriver or Torx screwdriver, depending on Tempstar model. Wipe off inside of grille with water-moistened paper towel. Dry grille with dry paper towel. Place grille back on compressor and reattach screws.
Remove screws from grille on outside compressor. Place grille aside. Rub stiff bristle brush against length of each of cooling coils inside compressor to remove dirt, grime and other contaminants. Thoroughly wipe compressor with water-moistened paper towel. Place grille back on and reattach screws.
Remove screws holding ventilation grille on compressor. Place grille aside. Insert end of included plastic straw into nozzle of lubricating spray can. Shake can for 5 seconds. Aim flashlight inside compressor so that you can see fan. Spray sides of fan with 6-second burst. Rotate fan two rotations clockwise with hand. Turn flashlight off and place grille back on compressor. Reattach screws.
